We have had numerous problems with this vehicle which have finally resulted in it being taken back by volkswagen.
The main problem has been tyre wear. The vehicle is half way through its second set of tyres at 18,000 miles. Volkswagen at first denied any problem but later admitted to transfer box problems with the earlier vehicles.
We have had this replaced but the problem has persisted. I believe VW has changed the four-wheel-drive system on the later vehicles.
Our 2.4 diesel unit also struggled to return anything better than 22mpg.
Overall, it's very disappointing.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS?? Happy VW Owner
My car's actual fuel consumption is 17.7mpg over 20,000 miles. I have converted to LPG for £1800 and fuel is 39.9p per litre, making it the equivalent of 40mpg.
It has superb performance and refinement. There has been excellent dealer service and comparitively low costs. When we sell, it will be for another one - we have had no complaints at all.
I have ony just bought this car but I am extremely impressed with the standard of equipment, on the negative side is the fuel consumption of around 22 mpg, which I suppose is only to be expected given the size and weight, but from going from a diesel Bora giving 50 mpg its a shock.
I use it for my work and carry lots of tools and equipment which it copes with very well, the roof bars are very expensive at £ 220.00 but are a custom made item and look well with easy on / off fitting.
Overall it is the best all road vehicle I have owned and extremely comfortable. I love it!
