I bought the VW just over a year ago, having compared all other 4x4s. I was instantly amazed by its smoothness and power. The auto gearbox is excellent.
I thought it handled well, but after the Touareg Unlimited day, on- and off-road I was astounded.
When I put my Coachman VIP caravan on the back, its pulling power is second to none.
It is the best all-round vehicle I have driven, and the dealership is friendly and helpful. To drive is to desire!
I have had this car for two years (from new), and it's one of the first to be put on the road.
I have had nothing but trouble with it. It has been in the garage many times.
We have looked around and tried many other 4x4s. (I have driven these vehicles for the past 14 years.) However, I have to say that this is by far the best vehicle I have ever driven. Hopefully now, after all the work done on this particular car, things will settle down.
There is still 14 months to go on the warranty and when this runs out I shall be buying a new Touareg. I can only hope that the new one dosen't play up as much!
This is my first VW, I love it. The dealer has been A1 so far with great service - much better than my experience with Mercedes.
I have had my car since January 2005 and have had no problems so far. It's great on the road and off-road. The sat-nav is great, and it's the first time I have had this in a car.
The track and off-road day from VW was great and showed what the car could do. I get stopped in the street by people who just love the look of the car. I haven't had this since I had my first SLK but that's another story.
I think it's a great car at a great price and I look forward to many years of ownership.
I love this car because of the feel and comfort, performance is more than adequate, fuel costs are high but servicing is electronically determined and VW operates a sensible pricing policy for its servicing. Insurance is relatively high.
This is not a cheap car to run. VW sells the Touareg as a luxury vehicle, it is. Leather, auto and metallic are essential extras since it is a luxury vehicle.
This car will go anywhere and will keep the occupants as safe as can be. I can drive the Touareg all day and night and get out as fresh as a daisy - it is not an involving drive.
Today I would replace it only with another Touareg or maybe a Porsche Cayenne because of the better residuals, the forthcoming Audi may be interesting too.
