I had the new Volvo S40 overnight for a test drive as my company car is due a change.
And I have to say it is one of the best cars I have driven in a long time - so much so that I've ordered one today and I have gone for an SE 2.0D - can't wait to get it. What a great car. But don't take my word for it, test drive one yourself as you won't be disappointed.
This is an update on my previous review (01/11/04). The three days the car was with the dealers became 12 weeks before the car was returned. Subsequent problems have been with the suspension and steering (new joints fitted), repeated failure of fuel gauge, problems with the driver information system, and then an ECU problem which highlighted a major engine fault - this has taken a further 10 weeks to fix (new valves were fitted).
I have had 16 months of ownership, of which a total of 6 months the car has spent in the workshop! Volvo have now agreed to replace this car.
