Vauxhall Antara Crossover 2.2 CDTI 163 FWD Exclusiv S/S 5dr Review

For It's much cheaper to buy than any other Antara, as well as having lower emissions and better economy, too.

Against It's the only model in the range without four-wheel drive, which means it lacks the ultimate versatility of other versions.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

Although it has a hill descent system as standard and is available with four-wheel drive, the Vauxhall Antara is geared towards on-road finesse. Ground clearance isn’t that great and there’s no low-ratio gearbox or equivalent to the Land Rover Freelander’s Terrain Response system.

The majority of Antara models have four-wheel drive as standard, but the entry-level, front-wheel drive model is expected to account for around a third of sales, due to its significantly lower list price and running costs.

It’s the one we’d recommend, but if you want the reassurance of four-wheel drive, or prefer an automatic gearbox, the pricier versions make sense. The more costly models also have an 181bhp diesel engine, but the 161bhp version is hardly short of power.
