    My car

I previously owned a Landrover Freelander which was great for work and also for leisure pursuits that involved driving across fields and down muddy tracks. I needed something that would be equally as comfortable but with more space... and that didn't break the bank. A pickup truck was the vehicle for me at a cost of losing some comfort. Having tested all of the pickup's available in this class I found the VW Amarok to be the quietest and most comfortable to drive. I've only had the vehicle for 3 months so cannot comment on reliability but it really is a pleasure to drive. The turning circle is reasonable, the controls are simple and easy to use whilst still remaining pretty stylish. I can't fault the vehicle itself...

    but...

I had a minor accident in my Amarok after 6 weeks of ownership (not my fault). A replacement wing and bumper were needed to complete the repair. An ETA of 3 weeks was given by the garage to get the parts shipped over and fit them (as there were no spare parts in the UK!). After 5 weeks, still no parts and VW could not give an ETA other than 'the system says 3 weeks'. Here we are approaching 2 months and still no delivery date for the parts.

If you are looking to purchase an Amarok for work I would seriously consider whether the parts supply problem has been sorted. If, like me you use it as a company vehicle it hardly portrays a very good image to customers when you're driving round in a 3 month old wreck!

The car itself deserves 5 stars!

    My car

I have the Amarok Highline 180PS BITID AUTO 8SPEED. I used to have Navaras and Hilux's which I used mostly for site visits and personal play time. The Amarok has been fantastic!! The MPG I get is almost double with compared to my last Hilux and the towing is great even with slightly over the legal limit (obviously off road on private land). I bought mine from a dealership in Westbury. I bought my last Navara online and will never do it again. The guys at Heritage were great and seemed to know their stuff. I now run X3 Amaroks and X2 VW T5's. I will not be going back. Sorry this isn't a technical review like some but I hope this helps someone.
