For The 2.0-litre turbodiesel provides plenty of mid-range punch and good fuel economy. Top-trim Exclusive version comes with two-tone ‘Nappa’ leather upholstery and heated front seats.
Against Resale values on this model are slightly weaker than other diesels. As with all Eos versions, there’s some wind noise at speed with the hood raised and the boot is small with the roof lowered.

Engine strikes a good balance between fuel economy and performance and this Eos still has a classy feel. But our figures show that lower-spec diesel versions hold their value better.

Folding steel-roofed cabriolets are no longer a new idea and Volkswagen wasn’t one of the first to introduce it, but the Golf-based VW Eos is certainly one of the best, featuring an electric sunroof built into its retractable roof.
Rival cars from Peugeot and Renault can’t match the Eos’ image or all-round abilities and the Eos is better to drive than the closely related Audi A3 Cabriolet.
While VW has got it right, it doesn’t sell its wares cheap. Top-spec versions stray over the £30,000 barrier, which is a lot for what is, in essence, a Golf with a fancy roof.
Stick with the cheaper versions – which are anything but short of kit or power – and you can’t really go wrong. Whichever version you choose, residual values will be impressively high; a reflection of the Eos’ class and appeal.
