After 3000 miles - a very nice car to drive. DSG is efficient -revs a bit high for me when at constant speed in sport mode. Gear change paddles on steering wheel do not mimic the "feel" of real gears - go for the manual if you want this. Irritating (+++) creaks from the door trim where it rubs against the door frame just by the driver's ear (test this by pressing the outer trim)- and the parcel shelf clip holding the string has sheared off twice. Also - the parcel shelf is really flimsy and cheap looking.
My Car : GTI 5-DR White DSG, 18"Monza's, Bi-Xenon Headlights, ACC, RCD510 stereo with DAB, Lux Pack, Bluetooth Phone prep.
I used to own a diesel Audi A4 a good car but a bit dull. I now have a GTI 210BHP Petrol, Semi-Automatic DSG box (including flappy paddles!) It rides better than the Audi especially in ACC comfort mode, provides great acceleration and loves zipping round corners. The MPG has suffered a bit, but i've averaged 33 with mixed driving so far so that's not bad.
The car looks great in White with 18" Monza's alloys, red brake calipers and the bright Bi-Xenon lights(expensive but worth it !). The standard tartan check GTI seats are great to sit in and look at, so no need to spend £1800 on leather. The RCD 510 touch screen with DAB is easy to use and provides great sound quality plus USB, IPOD, SD card, 6 CD funtionality. The Phone system is also easy to use and a must in most cars these days.
I was worried that the interior space and practicality may be an issue with 2 kids but it seems equally as roomy as my Audi and although the boot is slightly samller at 350 Litres( Audi 410) it's more accessible and practical to use.
Overall i'm really pleased i bought this car over BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 Diesels. Less Fuel Efficient ? Yes, but as nice if not nicer to own and with more exclusivity and more fun when you want it.
I have just purchased my fourth Skoda since 2003.…
I wrote a review for this car when I first took…
