For Both the fluid handling and refinement are impressive. There's seating for four, a big luggage area and lots of kit.
Against Rear headroom is limited for tall adults, the ride can be jiggly on rough surfaces. It's also a bit on the pricey side.
All the usual Volkswagen Passat values in a stylish, four-seater coupé-like package. Very appealing.
The Passat CC is a ‘four-door coupe’ in the same vein as the Mercedes CLS, so what it loses on practicality against the Passat saloon it makes up for with sleek, sporty looks and notably more flair than the standard car.
A range of petrol and diesel engines powers the CC. All of them are strong, but it’s the lower end of the range that impresses the most. The 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0 TDI diesel engines are fast and frugal, whereas the 3.6 V6 is overpriced and doesn’t offer the thrills a 295bhp car should.
All models are well equipped, comfortable and good to drive, but none offers the kind of sporty handling you might expect from a coupe. The CC's cockpit benefits from a different design to the saloon's, but there are still no surprises, and rear-seat passengers will find headroom tight because of the sloping, coupe-like profile.
