I just love this car, I own it 5 months.
The interior is great, way better than with BMW or Audi. It's comfortable and feels great on the road. Excellent value for the money. You wont find any interior flaws as in Audi A3 or BMW 1. It's modern, refined, nice... really pleasurable car!
This is my first ownership of a Volvo. What immediately attracted me to this car was the awesome styling - I can't think of a car that is quite so bold in its design – there’s just something about being different.
The whole car oozes quality – everyday it is a delight to get into cabin and power up the warp drive – which brings me to the engine and performance.
Performance: The 2.0 Diesel it just amazing, my only nit-pick is first gear which only seems to get the car moving forward. All the other gears are wonderful with the exception of 6th which I think is for economical motorway cruising. The exhaust system makes a wonderful growl when revs begin to build.
Interior: Again I have to say this is excellent, rock solid engineering throughout the car. Space up front is plenty but more confined in the rear. Boot space is challenging but offset by the rear design of the car.
Summary: Overall I think this 2.0D R-Design Sport is awesome. I honestly recommend it.
I got my 2.0D R-Design SE with 10,700 miles on the clock, brand new wheels and tires. After previously owning a Ford Focus and Fiat Grande Punto, the upmarket C30 is well worth the extra investment; fantastic engine, loads of power low down, amazingly smooth gear box, sharp brakes and those stunning looks. After adding a grill in front of the inter-cooler (no idea why Volvo didn't put one there as standard..., Front and Rear Mud Flaps. It really stands out. The engine is returning 50MPG, 55MPG on Motorway trips, i would have been happy with low 40's...... so what a bonus. Forget the Volvo stigma, go drive one!
What is not to like about this car. My wife works as a salesperson for Volkswagen and even she could not persuade me to buy the ubiquitous Golf. I have had BMW’s and Audis, access to a Golf every day, but nothing matches the feeling that I get with this head-turner. It has drawn admiration from petrol-heads and female executives at petrol stations across the region with its stylish, sporty looks and the fabulously designed interior. The seats are easily the best in class. The engine is a compromise between performance and frugality but it has proven itself more than adequate and more than the sum of its stated spec. Buy one with your heart and not your head. Yes the hatchback/boot is a little small and difficult to access. If this is a problem, buy a transit. I love its quirkiness. In R-Design Sport trim it is more Zooey Deschanel than Catherine Zeta Jones. It is intended to be loved in spite of itself, not admired as an object of physical perfection. I have it in Inscription Silver and love the way it changes from silver to grey to blue dependant on light conditions. I recently accidentally scratched the hatchback handle. Only a small scratch. A Golf would have laughed scornfully at me and carried on as usual. The Volvo looked at me with its sad eyes and I felt ashamed that I had let it down. It is some time since I experienced such emotion for my car. It’s good to be back! Don’t you buy one. I want them all for myself.
