For The Volvo XC60 2.4 D4 SE Lux Nav AWD S/S has more versatility than its two-wheel drive counterpart, while SE Lux is as lavish a level of kit as any XC60 gets, with the added attraction of sat-nav and an uprated stereo on this model.

Against It's dearer to buy than the equivalent two-wheel-drive model, and we're not convinced that it's worth adding the Lux and Nav packs to the already decent kit you get with SE trim.

The Volvo XC60 2.4 D4 SE Lux Nav AWD S/S is one of the better all-wheel drive XC60s, but we think the regular SE-trimmed car is better value.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The diesel engine line-up comprises one four-cylinder and two five-cylinder units. The five-cylinder engines are four-wheel drive, while the four-cylinder one is front-wheel drive. Confusingly, both the four-cylinder and lower-powered five-cylinder diesels are badged D4, and both have 178bhp. The higher-powered five-cylinder diesel is badged D5, and there’s a petrol T6 model, although we wouldn’t recommend either given the decent performance and vastly better running costs of the other models.

If you can live without four-wheel drive, the four-cylinder D4 is our pick of the range. It offers excellent running costs for private or company buyers, and you can have it with a manual or automatic gearbox. The auto ’box is fine for easy cruising, but gearshifts are a bit lazy.

Every XC60 comes with climate and cruise controls, automatic lights and wipers and a DAB radio, so there’s no need to go for a higher-spec version unless you really want leather trim and sat-nav.
