Chevrolet Cruze Owner reviews

No longer on sale

I own a 1.6LT automatic and there is very little I can fault it on apart from economy but very few autos are economical. After all it is built on the new Astra platform and as such it is an Astra at a much lower price. The finish and style is excellent. Yes, there is some cheap plastic low down but overall it looks very smart and drives smoothly, quietly and responsively. I cannot believe I am driving a car to which you have given 2 stars but perhaps that is down to badge snobbery which is why it depreciates rapidly but I bought it one year old so someone else took the hit and I was actually recommended to it by my local Vauxhall dealer who emphasized that I was buying the current Astra at a much lower price. The spec matches some much more expensive cars I have owned. The seats are comfortable and the boot space is wonderful. This is not a cheap alternative but a fully competent car in its own right and deserves more recognition but there again if it became more common on the road I would not feel so good in it.

I really hate when all the motoring press run down what i call the working mans car! OK we all don't drive around in fords or vauxhalls and some of us actually have only a mere pittance to spend on a car! The Chevrolet Cruze is a beautiful car! OK its a Daewoo in disguise and it has lots of faults (but they all do)i must admit i have had to do a few things to sort some of the issues out 1. remap of the ecu 2. K&N Panel filter 3. new spark plugs decent ones and what a difference its like a totally different beast and at a cost of Β£200 all in! the car drives and handles superb it also has all the toys like the big boys cars! and all for a fraction of the cost! yes i know resale values are crap blah blah blah but when you struggle to put food on the table and pay the gas bill this is a great choice for a family in the same position a lot of car for silly money my local dealer has been great no issues their! a few recalls (big deal) all fixed! a few very minor bad points about the car it has no hatch in the middle back seat for putting long things in the boot! also no boot light! it can be heavy on fuel especially in town but my average is 35mpg on a long run at 70 i get around 48 and from coming from a 08 plate 1.6tdci focus (and that was a pile of ** awful on diesel and build quality shocking) is not bad so all and all a very decent respectable car for the cash! don't let badge snobbery put you off! or these idiots that review cars for a living! i have just taken delivery of a cruze 1.6ls auto on motorbility i have had the vehicle for 1 week i find it nice to drive very responsive when pulling away from a stand still.it has a large boot which is useful.the vehicle is very quite when driven you dont feel bumps that much i would recommend this car to anyone looking for a well equiped family saloon.that does not cost the earth to buy & run. it is well laid out with the warning lights & gauges visable.the car is also very comfortable even on longish jurneys you do not feel tired or stiff when the journey is over over all i would say it is a nice looking car & a real head turner when being driven

Model Cruze 1.8 LT Auto Instalment #1 - March 2011 Vehicle age: 2 weeks Mileage: 892 I was fortunate to have received a free upgrade from LS trim to LT, with in-dash 6xCD changer, climate control, auto lights/wipers and cruise control. In my second-choice colour of Moroccan Blue. What a car! I am on my third full tank. The first achieved 31.4/mpg with climate control on and the second 35.2 with the CC off. I am targeting 40mpg with this tankful but it may perhaps be a challenge too far. I drive steadily and frugally, slipping the auto into neutral when I have a decline ahead. No faults so far but just a few minor issues... Suspension: It is a comfortable, quiet urban ride and motorway cruiser and not as susceptible to wind and road noise reported by mainstream car journo's. However, I do find the rear suspension noticeably 'clunky' over uneven surfaces. No daylight running lights available on the top-spec UK models. I would have thought with imminent EU regulations in this regard, that it would have it. * The absence of a dead-foot rest - especially on an auto - is an odd omission. The build quality is excellent with very good quality materials used throughout. In summary, I am wholly impressed by the Cruze and stick my nose up at Vauxhall badge snobs. Sadly, it is a rare car on our UK roads. It is much underrated and quite astonishing value for money and I am happy to expound its virtues at any given opportunity! Another update in a couple of months.
