The new entry model will be powered by a 194bhp 2.2-litre CRDi engine and a manual gearbox. Average fuel economy will be 47.9mpg and CO2 emissions will be 155g/km an improvement of 21g/km and 6.4mpg compared with the current entry-level 4x4 model.
The four-wheel-drive version is also more efficient than the current car; the entry-point 2.2 CRDi Style with manual transmission manages an average of 46.3mpg an improvement of 4.8mpg while it trims 16g/km from the CO2 figure at 159g/km. However, there's a hefty price increase of 3140 over the outgoing car.
Automatic versions are almost on a par with the outgoing manual model, with average economy of 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 178g/km.

Hyundai has tuned the 2012 Santa Fe's suspension specifically for UK roads; dampers have been stiffened over the European set-up, which should help it cope with bumps and uneven surfaces that are more common on our network.
Three trims are available Style, Premium, and the new Premium SE and all versions come with the option of five- or seven-seat configuration.
Style models get 18-inch alloys, body-coloured door handles, reverse parking sensors, daytime running lights, and self-levelling suspension on seven-seat versions. Inside, Style brings air-conditioning, Bluetooth with voice recognition, multi-function steering wheel, and Hyundai's Flex Steer system which can be used to change the level of steering assistance.
Standard safety kit includes stability control, hill-start assist, vehicle stability management, trailer stability assist, and seven airbags. A first for the Santa Fe is the active bonnet system which raises the bonnet by 60mm in the event of a pedestrian collision to help minimise the impact of head injuries.

Premium trim additions include touchscreen sat-nav, reverse parking camera with parking guidance system, dual-zone climate control, electric folding door mirrors, heated front seats, and black leather seat trim. Beige leather can be specified as a no-cost option. Premium models start at 28,995 a 3240 rise on the current Premium entry point.
The new range-topping Premium SE trim starts at 32,695 for the manual version, while the auto model costs 34,395.
Premium SE cars get 19-inch alloys, electric driver's seat adjustment, panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights, keyless entry, front parking sensors, smart parking assist, and a tyre-pressure-monitoring system.
The all-new Santa Fe is more spacious than the outgoing car, too. Rear legroom is boosted by 45mm, while headroom is extended by 11mm. Luggage capacity is 534 litres plus an additional 48 litres under the boot floor. It is fitted with two quick-release levers inside the boot to flatten the second row of seats for maximum load space.
The Santa Fe is backed by Hyundai's Five Year Triple Care package, which means owners get a five-year unlimited and fully transferable mileage warranty, along with roadside assistance and free vehicle health checks for the same period.
