Alfa continues to loiter near the bottom of our reliability results. Axle and suspension issues are the biggest blight, but electrics are also a problem.
The most-reliable model, the 156, turned in a decent result, with just 16 repairs per 100 cars, but the older Alfas in our survey dragged the overall score down.
Average repair bills were high at 383, and the time taken to fix problems was worse than most, at 3.7 hours.

Star model A6 ('04-present)
No real change for Audi, which is still in the reliability badlands.
The number of failures per 100 cars has actually increased on last year's, with only two cars, the ('01-'05) A4 and ('04-present) A6 scoring top marks for reliability.
These are the two newest Audis in the survey, pointing to potentially better results in the future.
Audi also had three cars in the 10 least-reliable models, including the ('00-'05) Allroad, ('94-'97) A6 and ('92-'00) Cabriolet.

Star model 3 Series Comp't ('94-'01)
A slight improvement for BMW after last year's slip, managing to sneak into the top 10.
There are 17 different models and generations of cars in the survey, yet axle and suspension problems, along with electrical gremlins, were a common cause of problems.
Once again, the star performer was the ('94-'01) 3 Series Compact, with just 16 breakdowns per 100 cars, yet it was the second-oldest BMW rated.

Star model Neon ('96-'99)
Despite falling in the overall results, Chryslers were no more likely to require repair work than they were last year.
The one to avoid is the ('97-'01) Grand Voyager, with 46 failures per 100 cars, while the ('97-'01) Voyager was slightly better at 40 per 100.
Generally, Chryslers suffered a variety of problems, but the most-reliable car, the Neon, had an unusually high percentage of engine issues.
The average repair bill was higher than most, too, at 423.
