The European version of the MG 3 has been unveiled at the Shanghai motor show.
The new supermini was first shown as the MG Zero concept car at the 2010 Beijing motor show but this is the first look at the production car that's destined for the UK.
It will be built at the company's factory in Birmingham and retains several of the Zero concept car's styling cues. Personalisation options will include graphics for the roof, sides and bonnet, while the wheels and interior can be specified in different colours.
The MG 3 will come with a 104bhp petrol engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. Performance and economy figures will be revealed closer to the car's launch later this year.
The MG 3 is 402cm long and the company claims that it will be accommodate four six-footers with ease.
Full specifications will be released over the coming months before production starts in the summer.
