Face-lifted Porsche Panamera Turbo S revealed

This face-lifted Porsche Panamera Turbo S is now the fastest five-door Porsche you can buy.

The Turbo S has the same V8 engine as the standard Turbo, but upgraded turbochargers and pistons give it 49bhp more, so it now develops 562bhp and 590lb ft of torque. The Turbo S will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds, and hit 192mph.

Despite the boost in performance, the revised car has the same official fuel economy and emissions figures as the standard Turbo model - that means a combined 27.7mpg and 239g/km of CO2.

The face-lifted Turbo S has the same exterior revisions as the other models in the range, with new bumpers as well as a revised tailgate and rear spoiler. It also gets 20-inch alloy wheels in a five split-spoke design.

The Turbo S comes as standard with Porsche’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the Sport Chrono pack. The latter allows the car’s set-up to be changed at the touch of a button, switching between Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus modes.

The model gets adaptive air suspension and active anti-roll bars to improve stability, plus a system that distributes torque between the wheels on each axle, which helps to reduce understeer. More powerful carbon-ceramic brakes are also standard.

The extra equipment and pace doesn’t come cheap. The Panamera Turbo S costs £131,049, a premium of more than £23,000 over the standard Turbo.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S will have its official debut at the Tokyo motor show in late November, although it's actually on sale now.
