Hyundai i10 misses out on top Euro NCAP rating

The Hyundai i10 has missed out on a top-level score in the latest round of the Euro NCAP crash ratings, managing only a four star rating.
The i10 did well in the child protection category, with a score of 80%, but was let down in other areas. It managed a score of 79% in the adult occupant category and just 56% for its safety assist.
In the adult category, it was marked down for its rear whiplash protection and its protection of the chest in the side-impact pole test. Despite having ESC anti-skid control as standard across the range, the i10 can't quite stand up to Euro NCAP's stringent tests.
The VW Up, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii rivals all scored five stars, but before Euro NCAP expanded its safety systems testing regime.
The other car assessed in the latest round of tests was the Mercedes C-Class, which managed a five-star rating. It did particularly well in the adult occupant test, where it scored 92%, and in the child occupant assessment where it scored 84%.
