Mercedes announces GL prices

The new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class will arrive in March, with a two-model range starting from 59,465 and rising to 91,680.

The 'basic' model is the GL350 Bluetec, which has a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that produces 254bhp and 457lb ft of torque. The GL350 is 15% more efficient than the previous car with an official average economy figure of 35.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 209g/km. It'll do 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 137mph.

The top-of-the-range GL63 AMG has a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine that produces 549bhp and 560lb ft of torque. The GL63 AMG can also do 23.0mpg and emits 288g/km of CO2. It does 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds and hits 155 mph.

The new model is 21mm longer, 10mm taller, and has a boot that's 60 litres bigger. As before the rearmost pair of seat in the seven-seater can be raised and lowered electrically.

Standard equipment includes an Intelligent Light System with bi-xenon headlamps and LED daytime running lights, privacy glass, an electric glass sunroof, air suspension and a media interface with a DAB digital radio tuner.

The GL63 AMG has flared wheelarches, 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, an AMG high-performance braking system, and an AMG sports exhaust system with two chromed twin tailpipes.

New comfort and safety features now include Crosswind Assist and Collision Prevention Assist.
