Mercedes G-Class prices revealed

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is available to order now, with prices starting at 82,945.

The entry-level G350 Bluetec model has a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and revised seven-speed automatic gearbox. The new G63 AMG which replaces the G55 AMG is powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 petrol engine, and costs 123,115.

Although it has been in production for 33 years, the G-Class has a range of changes to keep it up to date, including new LED daytime running lights, door mirrors, bumpers and grille. The G63 AMG has an AMG front grille, wheelarch extensions, chrome exhaust tailpipes and larger (20-inch) alloy wheels.

Inside, the updated G-Class gets a new instrument panel and centre console. A large iPad-like colour screen similar to the one in the new B-Class has been added to the top of the dashboard, while heated front and rear seats, and a Harman Kardon stereo are standard.

A new entertainment system includes a voice-operated control system and Bluetooth connectivity. New optional extras include Blind Spot Assist, Distronic Plus cruise control and Parktronic with reversing camera.

The 2012 G-Class is available to order now, with first deliveries expected in October.

The G-Class is part of an updated Mercedes SUV range that includes the new M-Class and GL models.
