The electric Renault Twizy will cost from 6690 for an entry-level Urban version plus 40 a month to lease the batteries.
The two versions in the range come with a 17bhp electric motor that give the two-seater a top speed of 50mph. Lithium-ion batteries provide a single-charge range of 62 miles and can be fully recharged in 3.5 hours.
The Twizy features include water-resistant upholstery, driver's airbag, seatbelts and two lockable storage areas with a combined loadspace of 86 litres.
Technic trim versions are priced from 7400 and add metallic paint, alloy wheels, and carbonfibre-effect graphics. Options for the Twizy include scissor doors and a transparent roof.
Leasing the batteries costs 40 a month, based on a three-year period, and up to 4800 miles a year.
Deliveries of the car begin early next year, but buyers can place a 20 deposit on one now at www.renault-ze.com.
