FOR The Qashqai has funky 4x4 styling, it's competitively priced and resale values are strong. Impressive refinement and comfort add to its appeal.

AGAINST The penalty for its cushy ride is considerable body roll. The rear seats don't fold totally flat and the 1.5-litre diesel engine sounds grumbly.

FOR As the name suggests, it has two more seats than the standard Qashqai, but you get the same cosseting ride, impressive refinement and long list of standard equipment

AGAINST The +2 is significantly more expensive than the five-seat model, but its extra seats are suitable only for small children and access is poor. Running costs are quite high, too
