The Skoda Octavia Estate is a family car with one of the biggest load bays in its class, yet it’s also very competitively priced. It competes with models such as the VW Golf Estate and Kia Cee’d SW on price, despite being closer in size to a VW Passat or Ford Mondeo.
The model isn’t without its flaws, however. There are others in the class whose interiors are more upmarket, and which have higher levels of ride and refinement.
The Volkswagen Golf, which is almost as practical as the Octavia but holds its value better, is one notable example.
However, given the Octavia’s keen price and its vast, practical cabin, it is the best family estate you can buy at the budget end of the scale – particularly if you go for the 1.0 TSI SE or Greenline diesel models.
