The Abarth 595 is startlingly quick and wonderfully stylish, but there are rivals that are both cheaper and better to drive

Trim: Essesse 70th Anniversary

Engine: 1.4 T-Jet 180

The top of the range is the Competizione model, which features a 178bhp version of the 1.4 T-Jet engine. The 0-62mph sprint takes just 6.7sec, and while it can feel like you're waiting for the turbo to kick in at times, the engine pulls strongly once it's into its stride.
