The Alpine A110 is one of the most entertaining and rewarding sports cars you can buy – at any price. Being ultra-lightweight means that, despite its relatively small engine, performance won't disappoint, while at the same time it feels incredibly nimble. A Cayman is ultimately more capable, though.get the best price

This plush trim level gets the option of model-specific Mercury Silver paint, pale gold badges and wheel detailing, an amber leather interior with matching bespoke luggage, comfier seats and carbon fibre trim. It is rather pricey, though.

This 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. With 249bhp at 6000rpm and 239Ib ft at a lowly 2000rpm, it’s enough to punch the featherweight A110 from 0-62mph in 4.5sec and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. It also sounds fantastic and is surprisingly economical.
