Audi A3 S3 TFSI Quattro 5dr S Tronic [Comfort+Sound] Review

The model
Read full reviewThere's no doubt the latest Audi A3 isn't as well finished inside or as polished overall as the previous model, but it still rates well against the premium competition of the day, which includes the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class. The A3 is comfortable, enjoyable to drive, has space for the family and a range of punchy petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. We recommend the 40 TFSIe for its electric range, low company car tax and performance. It’s one of the best plug-ins out there and a fine car in its own right.
The trim
See full equipmentThe S3 has 18in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery with heated front seats, and a racy body kit to set it apart from lesser Audi A3 models. It is disappointing that lumbar adjustment is an optional extra on such an expensive car.
The engine
See full engine specsThis 2.0-litre turbocharged engine has 306bhp and drives all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In our tests, 0-60mph took just 4.4sec thanks to standard fit launch control, so it's only fractionally slower than the Volkswagen Golf R.
