The Audi A6 Avant is a comfortable, quiet and technologically advanced estate that's beautifully built. A BMW 5 Series Touring is better to drive and has a more user-friendly infotainment system, though.
S line trim brings larger 19in alloy wheels, sportier looks, tinted rear windows and leather and Alcantara seats. We reckon it's the pick of the range.
This is the cheapest engine available in the A6, but it’s still a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 201bhp. 0-62mph takes a reasonable 7.3sec and claimed economy is in the high thirties. Like every A6 you can only have it with an automatic gearbox, but it’s the only one that’s exclusively front-wheel drive.
