Stepping up to S line gets a stiffer suspension set-up (which we would actually recommend avoiding), along with bigger 19in wheels, a sporty bodykit and Matrix LED adaptive headlights.

This 282bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is even smoother than the four-cylinder 40 TDI and stronger across its entire rev range, but it's somewhat hamstrung by its eight-speed automatic gearbox, which is hugely reluctant to change down. Despite that, it manages 0-62mph in just 5.4sec and has official economy in the low 40s. It costs a fair bit extra to buy, though.
