The A6 is quiet, comfortable, spacious and an impressive luxury car all round, even if it isn’t quite as thrilling to drive as the class bestget the best price
The trimSee full equipment
Upgrading to Vorsprung trim adds 21in alloys, keyless entry, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, soft-close doors, adaptive cruise control, adaptive LED headlights and black ash interior wood trim, but it also carries a huge price premium, so we wouldn’t bother.
The engineSee full engine specs
The S6 doesn’t rev like a petrol, so the BMW 540i and Mercedes-AMG E 53 can both get from 0-62mph faster. However, a time of 5.1sec is anything but slow, and making swift progress is pretty effortless because of the diesel's huge torque that's available between 2000rpm and 4000rpm to push you along. The eight-speed automatic gearbox contributes to the car’s easy going character, doing a good job of keeping the engine within its ideal operating window.
