Is a used Audi e-tron reliable?

The Audi E-tron came in 12th out of 16 cars in the electric SUV class in the latest What Car? Reliability Survey with a low score of 85.3%.

Among premium-badged rivals, the Jaguar I-Pace finished one place above it, in 11th place. and the Tesla Model Y finished in first place in this class.

Audi as a brand finished 24th out of 31 with a disappointing score of 89%, putting it behind BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes and Tesla.

Used Audi E-tron reliability: the owners' view

As part of our annual Reliability Survey, What Car? readers reported that the Audi E-tron had a mixed reliability record, with several owners experiencing issues related to its complex technology.

A common complaint involved faults with the charging system, including errors preventing the car from charging correctly. Additionally, some readers noted problems with the infotainment system freezing or becoming unresponsive. Electrical warning lights were also mentioned by a few owners, often requiring visits to the dealership for diagnosis and repair.

Feedback on Audi’s dealer network was divided. Some praised the professionalism of staff and the speed of repairs, but others shared frustrations over long waiting times for parts, particularly for electrical components. A few owners found the costs of repairs to be higher than expected for a premium electric vehicle.
