The Q3 looks like a rather compelling proposition. It’s immensely practical, features a high-tech interior and is decent to drive. However, with the predicted best selling engine feeling a little rough around the edges, the diesel engine currently hamstrung by a vague manual gearbox and a ride that can't quite match the Volvo XC40, the Q3 isn't quite a class leader. This brings some attractive, additional styling details such as S line body trim and chrome exhaust finishers. However, apart from leather sports seats, its other features, 18in alloys and xenon headlights, are more 'wants' than 'needs'. If you're buying an S line avoid the no-cost option of sports suspension – regular Dynamic suspension is more comfortable.

Much like the petrols, the lower-powered diesel is so good that this more expensive engine fails to make as much sense. Also, it’s available only with four-wheel drive, which pushes up CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
