The Audi Q5 is one of the very best SUVs you can buy. It's more comfortable and refined than the BMW X3 and puts the Volvo XC60 to shame when it comes to handling and infotainment. The 2.0-litre diesel engine (badged 40 TDI) makes most sense, as does entry level Sport trim – although we would recommend adding one or two options.get the best price
You get 18in alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, part-leather seats (heated in the front) and cruise control. It's our favourite trim level, although we would recommend stumping up for optional the Technology Pack and, if you want a really smooth ride, air suspension.
Engine: 45 TFSI Quattro
For a relatively small engine in a biggish car, this 2.0-litre petrol is pretty pokey. That’s down to a turbocharger that boosts power to a healthy 242bhp and a usable spread of shove throughout the rev range. Like the 40 TDI diesel, this engine has a standard seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which changes smoothly through the gears but can be a little jerky at parking speeds.
