What we are looking for
- The SUV class has expanded faster than a rocket-propelled cheetah that’s just seen a particularly tasty antelope. But while the SUV has traditionally been a hefty beast, we’re now seeing more compact contenders.
- With that in mind, we’ve created a new category for SUVs less than 4.3 metres long. Even though they are relative tiddlers, we’ll still be looking for spacious interiors that have clever touches to make them that bit more practical.
- Seeing as these are some of the cheapest SUVs to buy, running costs shouldn’t be too much more than those of equivalent hatchbacks.
- Moreover, a good small SUV should still be comfortable and able to get around a corner.
