Review

The 3 Series Touring isn't the roomiest estate in the world, but if you just need a bit more practicality than the saloon offers then it's a great buy. Fantastic to drive, smart inside and has one of the best infotainment systems on the market.

get the best price

Brings an even more aggressive look, although you’re not getting a whole lot more than added style for your money with 18in wheels, digital instruments and a bigger 10.3in infotainment screen being the main upgrades. The ride is firm on standard M Sport suspension, so think about adding optional adaptive M suspension – it's part of the expensive M Sport Pro package but it makes the ride a lot smoother.

This plug-in hybrid model can run on electric power alone for around 30 miles and the battery takes 6 hours to charge from empty if you plug into a regular domestic three-pin socket, which falling to an official 3hrs 36min if you plug into a proper electric car charging point using the optional type 2 lead. There's also a 2.0-litre petrol engine to take care of your longer journeys and with both power sources working together, acceleration is really brisk.
