It’s fair to say that while BMW’s 5 Series Gran Turismo sold relatively well in places like the US and China, it was firmly in the ‘hen’s teeth’ category here in the UK. Its sleek looks made it stand out but it was rather disappointing to drive. However, its replacement, the BMW 6 Series GT, could be more promising.
For starters, much of the 6 GT’s interior comes from the brilliant latest 5 Series, while its dimensions are more akin to the spacious and luxurious 7 Series. However, despite its size, the 6 GT now weighs about 150kg less than the 5 GT - one of the previous car’s biggest issues.
So, if the GT’s sleek looks appeal, or the thought of joining the swathes of 5 Series saloon and Touring owners leaves you cold, is the 6 GT worth the extra cash it costs over its stablemates?
