The model
Read full reviewIn 840d form, the 8 Series is in a class of its own: a diesel luxury coupé that’s relatively cheap to run, offers very strong performance and is capable of covering long distances between fill-ups. See full equipmentThe M850i adds a sports exhaust system, lightweight 20in wheels and the M Sport differential, for added cornering traction.
The engine
See full engine specsThe M850i's 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 feels immensely strong, but is impressively refined when you want it to be, imbuing the 8 Series with a sense of duality that entirely befits a continent-crushing GT. And, with the added traction of xDrive four-wheel drive, you can deploy all 523bhp with virtually no drama.
