This range-topping trim comes with 18in alloy wheels, leather seats, extended LED lighting, an aggressive bodykit, stiffer suspension and heated front sports seats. It's too pricey to recommend and you have to suffer a bumpy ride, though.

This 1.5-litre petrol engine is essentially the same one you'll find in a Mini Cooper. It delivers adequate, if not especially sporty, acceleration – but we reckon it's the pick for most buyers because the more powerful 20i costs a fair bit more to buy and run.
