The BMW X1 is good to drive, classy inside and hugely practical. It isn't as quiet nor as comfortable as the best family SUVs, but it's a fine buy if you fancy something a little more sporty.get the best price
Trim: M Sport
This range-topping trim comes with 18in alloy wheels, leather seats, extended LED lighting, an aggressive bodykit, stiffer suspension and heated front sports seats. It's too pricey to recommend and you have to suffer a bumpy ride, though.
Engine: xDrive 20i
This 2.0-litre turbocharged engine pumps out 189bhp and you get an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. It needs more revs than the diesels to really get going, but ultimately offers much quicker acceleration than the sDrive18i. Available with front- or four-wheel drive.
