There was a time when the Corvette made up for its shortcomings with a bargain price, but those days are long gone. It now costs as much as many supercars. The big V8 engines also mean epic fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and bills for insurance and tyres will be just as steep.
Chevrolet CORVETTE Coupe quality & reliability
The Corvette is so rare in the UK that reliability data is hard to come by, but quality is arguably the car’s worst area. The rear bumper flexes with a light press from your fingertip, while the cabin feels horribly cheap and rattles and creaks over every bump in the road. Most superminis are more solidly built than this, and compared with similarly priced sports cars, the Corvette is truly woeful.
Chevrolet CORVETTE Coupe safety & security
All Corvettes comes with electronic driver aids, including stability control, to help you avoid having an accident, but if a smash becomes unavoidable, there are only four airbags (front and side) to keep you from harm. With the Corvette being such a rare sight in Europe, it’s no surprise that there’s no Euro NCAP crash test rating for the car.
