With its funky looks, the Citroen C3 does a great job of turning heads. However, it's poor to drive and not very practical, so any number of rivals are more recommendable on an objective level.

Trim: Feel

We think it’s worth the upgrade to the Feel model. This is because you get 16in alloy wheels and climate-control (rather than just manual air-con), plus a 7.0in touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, so you can use your phone’s sat-nav through the screen. You also have stereo controls on the steering wheel and electrically adjustable door mirrors.,

Engine: 1.2 PureTech 82

Around town this 81bhp three-cylinder petrol feels pokey enough, but get it out onto the motorway and you need to rev it hard to make it go. The good thing is it’s always pretty smooth when you do, although the standard five-speed manual gearbox has a very woolly shift action.
