While we'd stick with Sense Plus trim, the Shine model isn't massively more expensive, and brings privacy glass, keyless entry, automatically dipping headlights and adaptive cruise control. You also get a more sophisticated automatic emergency braking system that can detect cyclists, so it's worth considering.

The e-C4 has a 50kWh battery, although its usable battery is only 45kWh. That makes it a bit smaller than many of its rivals and is why the official 211-mile range is a disappointing 139 miles in the real world. It’s not that quick, either, with a tested 0-60mph time of 9.0sec, which is absolutely fine around town but acceleration really starts to tail off between 50-70mph – bear that in mind if you do a lot of motorway driving.
