Given the Fiesta's fun-driving nature, we'd be tempted to go for sporty ST-Line Edition trim with stiffer suspension – for even more agile cornering – and a bodykit and larger 17in alloy wheels – for a more aggressive look. Otherwise it's similarly specified to Titanium trim with an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a front centre armrest, rear parking sensors, a seven-speaker stereo, a leather steering wheel and gear lever, cruise control, power-folding door mirrors, keyless start, automatic wipers and sat-nav, plus everything you get with entry-level Trend. It is fairly pricey, though.

This engine is a cracker. Responsive around town and impressively hushed at motorway speed, it’s a brilliantly flexible unit. Comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. You can opt for an automatic gearbox, but if you do CO2 emissions jump up compared with the manual, while fuel economy is also noticeably worse.
