Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid mHEV 125 ST-Line Edition 3dr Review

The model
Read full reviewThe Ford Fiesta is superb to drive, smart inside and well equipped, plus it offers a broad range of trim levels – from the affordable Trend to the SUV-inspired Active – to cater for many tastes and budgets. It’s one of the very best small cars you can buy, but it can prove quite pricey in higher trims and the rival Volkswagen Polo just has the edge for ride comfort, safety and rear-seat space.
get the best priceThe trim
See full equipmentGiven the Fiesta's fun-driving nature, we'd be tempted to go for sporty ST-Line Edition trim with stiffer suspension – for even more agile cornering – and a bodykit and larger 17in alloy wheels – for a more aggressive look. Otherwise it's similarly specified to Titanium trim with an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a front centre armrest, rear parking sensors, a seven-speaker stereo, a leather steering wheel and gear lever, cruise control, power-folding door mirrors, keyless start, automatic wipers and sat-nav, plus everything you get with entry-level Trend. It is fairly pricey, though.
The engine
See full engine specsA fine engine with a bit more zip along with greater efficiency than the Ecoboost 95 for not a huge amount extra. It cuts over a second off the Ecoboost 95's 0-62mph dash (down to 9.4sec) and feels much stronger low in the rev range, too. It's the only engine available with the option of a seven-speed automatic gearbox, but, be warned, it doesn't react that quickly when you ask for a burst of acceleration. The standard, slick, six-speed manual is a better choice.
