The Ford Focus stands out as one of the best driver’s cars in the class, with truly entertaining handling if you go for our favourite ST-Line Edition trim. Its sharp dynamics are complemented by the decent ride, quiet cruising manners and lots of passenger space. The iffy interior quality and slightly lacklustre performance are the main areas that mark it down.

The 148bhp 2.0L Ecoblue 150 doesn't feel that much faster than the 1.5 Ecoblue 120, especially if you order it with the optional eight-speed automatic gearbox that takes a while to kick down. It is smoother and quieter than the 1.5 Ecoblue 120, though, and still impressively efficient as well as RDE2 compliment if you're a company car driver.
