What should I look for in a used Ford MUSTANG MACH-E estate?

Nothing out of the ordinary just yet – do the usual visual checks of things like the wheels and tyres, as well as take it for a test drive if you can.

The Mach-E scored the full five stars when it was tested for safety by Euro NCAP and it did a very good job of protecting adults in a frontal collision. It has plenty of driver aids, including automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assistance and blind-spot monitoring.

What are the most common problems with a used Ford MUSTANG MACH-E estate?

The Mach-E has been subjected to a few recalls so far. The most prominent one describes the possibility that high voltage battery may overheat. There has been 6535 cars involved in this recall and, fortunately, the fix isn't too difficult – dealers will just need to update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on the vehicle.

The second one you should know about consists of the front windscreen not being stuck to the body properly. Removing and re-installing the windscreen with the correct adhesion will solve this issue. Again, contact your local Ford dealer to have the work done (at no cost to you).

Another recall says that the incorrect location information may be sent from the Mach-E's eCall system. A simple software update rectifies this.

Vehicles could develop wind noise and water leaks around the panoramic glass roof. Should the roof glass loosen there is a risk that the glass could become detached from the vehicle. Get your dealer to add additional urethane adhesive between the vehicle body and roof glass.

Is a used Ford MUSTANG MACH-E estate reliable?

According to our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey, the Mach-E is incredibly reliable. In fact, we didn't hear from a single person whose Mach-E experienced issues. As such, it ranked first out of nine cars in the electric SUV class. As a brand, Ford came 17th out of 32 manufacturers featured.
