Few estate cars have the visual appeal of the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake, plus it drives well and comes with a lot of equipment for the money. Those good looks have compromised it as an estate car, though, so if you want something practical that’s also good-looking, go for the Volvo V60 or Audi A4 Avant.

Top-tier Sport Line trim takes the G70 Shooting Brake a step further by adding Nappa leather seats, 19in alloy wheels, bigger Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential. We find it hard to recommend because of the cost, though.

With 241bhp, the most powerful of the petrol engines will get the G70 SB from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds. You’ll still need to work it to get up to motorway speeds, but there’s a good amount of shove for overtaking when you push it.
