Review

Private buyers looking at the Genesis GV70 might be tempted by the price, long warranty, five-year servicing package and high-level of standard equipment, but the Audi Q5 is still our choice for its smoother, quieter diesel engine and far better ride. Company car users will want to look elsewhere, as rival large SUVs with plug-in hybrid technology are far less costly for benefit-in-kind tax.

On top of the well-specified Premium and Sport Line GV70s, Luxury Line cars come with the largest 21in wheels and a few extra interior colour choices.

This 207bhp diesel engine takes the GV70 up to motorway speeds with relative ease, delivering plenty of low end shove and a linear amount of power across the rev range. It’s not nearly as refined as the equivalent engine in the Audi Q5, though.
