Review

A sensible small car with plenty of space and equipment, the Hyundai i20 is an affordable and capable city cruiser. Its engines feel a bit gutless compared with rivals in the Ford Fiesta, though, and you’ll find yourself wanting a bit more oomph on the motorway.

Trim: S Connect

Entry-level S Connect trim is fairly well equipped, with a 7.0in infotainment system, Bluetooth, air conditioning and automatic headlight. Steel wheels, though. All i20s come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can use smartphone apps such as Google Maps for sat-nav.

Engine: 1.2 MPi

The higher-powered 1.2-litre engine also needs working hard even around town and still feels underpowered on faster roads. With just 83bhp, you’ll struggle on the motorway.
