My wife and myself were immediately taken with the look of the ix20 after our first ever trip to a Hyundai dealer when we were thinking of changing our car, we arranged a test drive on the spot and were very impressed with the equipment levels and how quiet the 1.4 petrol engine is, for a small car the amount of space you get inside seems huge and the higher driving position makes it so easy to get in and out of, as we are retired this is of great benefit to us. The car we had before was a 1.6 Fiesta and we put the ix20 ride, finish and comfort well above that and we wonder why we had never tried Hyundai before. We give this car four or five stars across the board and cannot believe that β€œwhat car” have only given it two stars. My average fuel consumption is about 38mpg, but my annual mileage is low,the use is very short trips around town. About town driving is excellent. The Seats are very supportive and comfortable with a lot of adjustment. The rear fold down seats are great and very easy to use and by raising or lowering the rear floor cover you can have a totally flat loading area. If you do short trips like we do then the ISG can be a bit hit and miss as the battery has to be charged above 80% to work along with other requirementβ€˜s, not a problem to us as I prefer not to have it switched on, cannot get used to the engine stopping and starting at traffic lights. In summary a great little car, comfortable, efficient and would we buy another one,yes we would.

Changed from a 2.7litre V6 to this car so obviously not so impressed with performance, but putting this to one side. Now completed 4k miles. Average fuel consumption is about 44mpg, which feels good as my normal driving is a mix of town and open roads. I did find that on motorways the average was about 40mpg, probably due to the higher revs at cruising at 70+. Normal about town parking and driving is excellent. Brisk acceleration provided you use the gears. Seats very comfortable but don't like cleaning the upholstery, it's black and needs regular cleaning and no choice of inside colours. The rear fold down seats are great and very easy to use and fit flat leaving a good loading area. Back door opens wide and high. On the Style no inside back light because of the panaramic roof. Good high seating position. Trying to get used to the engine switching off when selecting neutral and the door locking system. Would on reflection have preferred a larger engine and cruise control but the car is good and should have a higher rating than given by the review. Before I purchased this car I tried the Toyota Verso and Kia Venga and believe I have the better car

My wife and I were immediately taken with the look of the ix20 and very impressed with the amount of space you get. We have a 5 month old son and his medium sized buggy barely makes a dent in the boot space. The ability to change the upright position of the rear seats, as well as moving them forward and backwards, makes a huge difference to the amount of space you get. By playing around with the settings we made a very comfortable 1400 mile road trip in Spain. We took our son, his buggy, travel cot, clothing, bouncer and our own usual holiday bags of clothing and footwear with ease. To make things more interesting we also took 2 adult friends and all of their equipment. The ix20 took it all in its stride and I was able to have my usual driving position (I’m 6 foot 3 tall) with an adult behind me making for some very comfortable driving. The fact it is still a small car allowed me to park in some compact spaces and underground garages which would not have taken anything even slightly larger. We travelled through some very steep terrain yet the 1.4 engine coped with the gradient and heavy cargo with relative ease and kept to the 120kph limit on all but the very steepest inclines. We returned an actual average of 55mpg for the trip (worked out rather than using the car’s trip computer), which is consistent with what we have been getting in our day-to-day usage, although this is creeping up to the high 50’s as the engine becomes run in. A fantastic, comfortable and efficient car
