Review

With decent performance, palatable running costs and an easy-to-use infotainment system, the Kona range has a lot in its favour. However, while the Kona Electric impresses with its hot-hatch acceleration and competitive range between charges, the petrol-engined models are shown up by the hybrid’s lower running costs. Rival small SUVs have more interior space, too, so the Kona struggles to stand out in its class.

Adds plenty of kit to that you get with entry-level SE Connect trim, including bigger alloys and a larger 10.3in touchscreen infotainment systems. The price jump is too big for us to recommend Premium trim, though.
