Review

With decent performance, palatable running costs and an easy-to-use infotainment system, the Kona range has much in its favour. However, while the Kona Electric impresses with its hot-hatch acceleration and competitive range between charges, the petrol-engined models are shown up by the hybrid’s lower running costs. Rival small SUVs have more interior space, too, so the Kona struggles to stand out in its class.

Mid-spec Premium gets you 18in alloys, climate control, keyless entry and start, as well as wireless smartphone charging, but it’s a fairly big jump in price from SE.
