Review

The Hyundai Tucson has a fantastic reliability record and a top-notch warranty offer, plus it has roomy rear seats. But rivals are much better to drive, with quieter and cleaner engines, and are plusher inside, too. Overall, the Tucson’s weaknesses prevent it from challenging the best cars in the class.

Trim: Premium SE

Over the Premium trim, the top-spec Premium SE adds 19in alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, ventilated front seats, LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, a 360deg camera, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

Engine: 2.0 CRDi 48V MHD

The 2.0 CRDi 185 is the quickest diesel – if not quite as swift as our favourite petrol – and the only choice if you want four-wheel drive. It's available only in the range-topping trim and is best suited for towing, but its large capacity isn't great for running costs.
